Chris Olave Has Become a Fantasy Football Superstar

Early in the summer, I was a bit worried about Chris Olave with Jordyn Tyson being drafted. Olave has been great for fantasy football, and last year he was a fantastic value.

The question is that with Olave scoring 16.8 PPG last year, can he return that same value? With Tyson going down and Tyler Shough playing well thus far, the answer looks to be yes.

In Week 1, Olave would have a 28.2-point performance as the New Orleans Saints would be in a high-scoring game (31-30) against the Detroit Lions. In that matchup, Olave was the focal point, drawing 13 targets, which makes sense.

There’s a reason the Saints drafted Tyson, as the wide receiver depth is fairly thin. Then in Week 2, Olave would score 22.6 points on 10 targets against the Baltimore Ravens. In a surprise, this was a game that the Saints were able to win 24-17.

Now it is worth noting that Tyson should be back this year, as Matt Burke of Complex wrote this back on September 5th:

“Tyson is expected to miss at least two months from the time the injury took place, which puts him in line for a return in mid-October. Exactly eight weeks from the time of the injury would be October 8.”

Still, Olave has proven himself as a fantasy football superstar this year, and with the improved play of Shough, I believe he can finish the year scoring 18 plus PPG.
