Colts players comments makes Titans defensive performance even more embarrassing

The Tennessee Titans put together an embarrassing defensive effort against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

The Colts ran for 335 yards as a team, including 218 yards and three rushing touchdowns for Jonathan Taylor. Taylor had a 65- and 70-yard touchdown that just beat the Titans down and propelled Indianapolis to 38 unanswered points.

As if that wasn't bad enough, postgame comments from Colts tight end Mo Alie-Cox make the Titans look even worse. Titans players were allegedly predicting their own pathetic performance on the field mid game.

"It’s hilarious because we went out there and they were like, ‘Oh, it’s a screen!’ And then one of the defensive ends was like, ‘Man, they’re about to give it to Jonathan Taylor. He ‘bout to run for 300 on us.’ … Once he said that, I was like, ‘Yeah, we got ‘em,'" said Ali-Cox in an interview with James Boyd of The Athletic.

It's one thing to let your biggest rival abuse you in the running game, which is something your defense has always considered a strength. It's another thing to predict your own team to get dominated.

It's really no wonder the Titans couldn't stop the run on Sunday. The players on the field didn't seem to have much belief or buy-in.

If it hadn't been for Tennessee's late comeback and cutting it to a one score game in the fourth quarter, I might be inclined to say this type of effort and performance is the straw that broke the camel's back for this coaching staff. I might be there anyways.

Even though the Titans got some points on the board in garbage time, this game never felt within reach. And it seems like every week the Titans get further and further away from looking like a competitive football team. Not only are they 3-12, but they don't do anything well, and it's starting to feel like the locker room culture isn't all that great either.
