The Indianapolis Colts have been hard at work to improve their roster ahead of Week 6. They were forced to replace injured kicker Spencer Shrader, which led them to sign Michael Badgley. They also had a solid upgrade at LB fall in their lap in Germaine Pratt , who the Colts signed after his release by the Las Vegas Raiders following Week 5. Even after those two signings, their biggest roster boost ahead of Week 6 comes from a key starter officially being healthy enough to play Sunday.

The Colts will be without star CB Kenny Moore II for a third straight week. In the past two games, the team was able to turn to Mike Hilton as their backup option . That won't be the case this week as they placed Hilton on the IR after an injury in Week 5, which likely means Chris Lammons will get the start in Week 6. They have also had to play without starting WR Alec Pierce the last two weeks. However, unlike Moore, Pierce is now ready to make his return to the field.
He was forced to leave the team's Week three win over the Tennessee Titans early with a concussion. He then missed the team's following matchup with the Los Angeles Rams after not clearing the NFL's concussion protocol. This propelled Adonai Mitchell into the starting lineup, and he had major mistakes that arguably led to the team's first loss of the year. He returned to practice on Wednesday and Thursday ahead of Week 5, but shockingly was held out on Friday and ultimately missed their win over the Raiders.
Pierce has now cleared protocol and will return to the field and the starting lineup in Week 6. This will be a significant boost for a Colts offense that is already playing like one of the best in the NFL. He was the team's top receiver in 2024, and he has proven himself to be one of the top deep threat WRs in the NFL over the last couple of years. Seeing Daniel Jones throw his first two interceptions of the year on 50/50 ball attempts without Pierce on the field doesn't seem like a coincidence. Pierce has demonstrated a fundamental skill in coming down with 50/50 balls, and his return should greatly enhance that aspect of the team's game.
OH MY ALEC PIERCE.
