The 2022 NFL Draft had a strong group of wide receivers, including Drake London, Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave, Jameson Williams, Jahan Dotson, Treylon Burks, and George Pickens. It was a deep class at that position, but the question remains: who will be the standout wide receiver from this draft?

One promising candidate is second-year wide receiver, Christian Watson. Despite a slow start, he showcased his unlimited potential towards the end of his rookie season. Here’s why he has the potential to become the best wide receiver to come from the 2022 NFL Draft:

Led All-Rookie Wide Receivers In Touchdowns

Watson emerged as one of the top rookie wide receivers of 2022, scoring a remarkable eight touchdowns. One of these was a rushing touchdown, while the other seven were through receptions. What’s even more impressive is that most of his receiving touchdowns were made during the second half of the season, with three of them being achieved against the Dallas Cowboys.

With such a track record, he is expected to be a touchdown machine this year. Had it not been for a few complications at the beginning of the season, he might have scored over 10 touchdowns. This year, fans can expect him to continue his impressive performance and score many more touchdowns for the Packers' offense.

Can Clean Up His Route Running

Watson’s incredible speed was on full display last year, as he effortlessly ran past opposing defenders. However, his route-running skills require improvement. While his speed poses a challenge for opposing defenses, running clean, crisp, and precise routes is crucial for him to become a complete wide receiver in the NFL. He has been working hard during the offseason to enhance his craft. If he successfully improves his route running, he will be an unstoppable force on the field.

High-Volume Incoming

It seems highly likely that Watson will receive a significant number of passes thrown his way, given his explosive ability to make impactful plays on offense. Although it remains unclear whether he is the primary wide receiver on the team, there is no denying that he has the potential to be the standout player on the Packers’ offense. Given his size advantage, the team will likely utilize him frequently in the endzone to secure those 50/50 ball opportunities. With Watson being a key focus on the Packers’ offense, it’s safe to anticipate some impressive statistics from him this season.

Can Be Used Creatively

Watson is an invaluable asset to the Packers’ offensive strategies. His versatile skills allow him to be utilized in a multitude of ways, such as lining up at various positions on the field and executing jet sweeps. Additionally, he can be positioned in the backfield and motioned out for added effect. By constantly shifting his location, opposing defenses will be forced to acknowledge his speed and presence, ultimately opening up more options for the Packers’ offense. It’s safe to say that the team will likely explore new and creative ways to incorporate him into their game plan.
