Cowboys fanboy Skip Bayless: QB Cooper Rush 'unspectacularly special'

Fox Sports' Skip Bayless might be the biggest Cowboys fanboy in media. You can add "Cooper Rush’s biggest cheerleader" to his resume. After Dallas' second straight win with the backup QB, Bayless pushed the flimsy narrative that the Cowboys have a QB controversy.

“I love what I’m seeing from Cooper Rush, he is unspectacularly special,” Bayless said Tuesday on "Undisputed." “He’s operating that offense at a higher level than I’ve seen Dak Prescott operate.”

The injured Prescott might take offense to the notion of a brewing quarterback controversy. He threw for 37 touchdowns in 2021. Rush has only started in three games in his NFL career.

Rush has played well, becoming the first undrafted QB since Pro Hall of Famer Kurt Warner to win his first three starts and throw for more 750 yards.

Rush has impressed Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who said on KRLD-FM in Dallas on Tuesday that the backup "has the makeup of a top quarterback.”

Last week Jones himself stoked a QB controversy — a case of "Jerry being Jerry" to those who have covered him for years.

But he also has complimented Prescott’s recovery from his fractured right thumb.

“I think his progress is nothing short of amazing,” Jones said Tuesday. According to Jon Machota of The Athletic, Jones expects Prescott to play in a week or two.
