The Dallas Cowboys got training camp underway this week in Oxnard, California, as they prepare for the upcoming season. The Cowboys are hoping for a bounce-back year in 2026 after a frustrating 2025 campaign that saw them miss the playoffs altogether for a second straight year.

Recently, Cowboys insider Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News reported a positive update on the injury front from the start of training camp.

“After a few health issues during offseason workouts, Cowboys expect all 91 players to be ready to practice for training camp tomorrow,” reported Watkins on X, formerly Twitter.

It’s certainly a good thing to be fully healthy this time of year. Of course, Dallas will be trimming that 91-player total down to 53 over the next two months before the season gets underway.

As training camp begins, all eyes will be on the Cowboys’ defense, which was a disaster this past season. Dallas has made strides to help remedy that issue this offseason, including spending both of their first-round picks on defensive players, headlined by the selection of star safety Caleb Downs out of Ohio State.

This, combined with last season’s acquisition of Quinnen Williams from the New York Jets, along with other moves this offseason, could be enough to get the Cowboys’ defense at least back to league-average territory, which would theoretically be enough to make the team a contender if the offense can keep up its torrid pace from last season.

In any case, the Cowboys’ upcoming season is slated to get underway on September 13 with a divisional game on the road against the New York Giants in prime time as part of NBC’s Sunday Night Football.
