Cowboys re-sign WR Michael Gallup to five-year, $62.5M contract

One day following their blockbuster trade of four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Amari Cooper, the Dallas Cowboys reportedly locked up one of their other star wideouts on a long-term deal.

The Cowboys have been busy lately, as they also elected to hang onto another one of quarterback Dak Prescott's offensive weapons in tight end Dalton Schultz, via the franchise tag. It was reported in early March that Dallas and Gallup were "close" on terms for a new deal.

Entering the 2021 season in a contract year, Gallup missed seven games in the fall with a calf strain, but returned in November. The 26-year-old recorded 35 receptions for 445 yards and two touchdowns across nine games this past campaign, before suffering a torn ACL in Week 17.

Gallup's best NFL season came in 2019 during his second year in the league, when he set career-highs in targets (113), receptions (66), receiving yards (1,107) and receiving touchdowns (six). He finished second on the team only to Cooper in all four categories.
