The "Sunday Night Football" showdown between the Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET is undergoing a weather delay due to thunderstorms.

As of the publishing of this article, the delay is scheduled for 30 minutes via The Athletic's Jon Machota, meaning Cowboys vs. Steelers will kick off at 8:50 p.m. ET barring any additional changes.

UPDATE #1 AT 8:45 P.M. ET: Despite Machota's report about the game being delayed 30 minutes, many at Acrisure Stadium are reporting lighting is ongoing and that it might take longer for the game to resume. There is no official time set as of yet.

UPDATE #2 AT 9:00 P.M. ET: Westwood One Sports paused its coverage and had affiliate stations resume local programming. Reporters at the stadium have reported on additional flashes of lighting, each of which results in the clock until gametime being reset at 30 minutes. It certainly looks like it'll be a while before kickoff.

UPDATE #3 at 9:17 P.M. ET: Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the game is now expected to kick off at 9:45 P.M. ET. NBC revealed players are to take the field at 9:25 P.M. for warmups.

Thunderstorms are one of the few reasons why an NFL game can be delayed, as teams play through rain, hail, and snow. However, thunderstorms pose a risk to everyone in attendance.

The Steelers might like the fact that weather is a factor as they're in home turf and we know head coach Mike Tomlin likes to establish the run and play hard-nosed football. They're 2.5-point favorites entering the game.

As far as the Cowboys go, it'll be interesting to see how the weather affects their game plan, as they would likely prefer to throw the football as their run game struggles continue. Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb showed the NFL how dangerous they can be during the 2023 season and are now hoping to fully get on the same page after four weeks of inconsistent results.

Even last week, when Lamb racked up over 90 receiving yards, both struggled to connect at all in the second half.

Coaching will be a big part of the story tonight as Mike McCarthy and Tomlin both navigate complicated injuries to their starting lineup. Adapting to the weather will only further the narrative. Who will rise?
