There was a lot of talk surrounding Dallas Cowboys star CeeDee Lamb heading into Thursday’s matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. This was after his forgettable performance in Sunday’s incredible comeback win against the defending champions, the Philadelphia Eagles.

Lamb recorded four catches for 75 yards against the Eagles. However, the big issue was the fact that he logged a career-high eight drops in the game as he struggled to secure quarterback Dak Prescott’s passes. Lamb was determined to make amends in Thursday’s Thanksgiving showdown against the Chiefs, and he wasted no time doing just that early in the game.

After his performance against the Eagles, Lamb was his own worst critic. He admitted to a lack of focus on his end and promised to fix the problem. “I need to catch the [expletive] ball,” he declared.

Lamb was not messing around on Thursday. He made an immediate impact in the game by scoring Dallas’ first touchdown in the first quarter. However, even before his score, the All-Pro wide receiver had already rewritten NFL history.

After Lamb secured a 17-yard catch from Prescott during the scoring drive, the Cowboys took to social media to announce the wideout’s latest career milestone.

“With that 17-yard reception, CeeDee Lamb ( @_CeeDeeThree ) surpassed 7,000 career receiving yards. He is the 15th player in NFL history - and the first Cowboy - to reach 7,000 yards in his first six seasons,” Dallas Cowboys Public Relations posted on X.

Lamb also made franchise history with that catch. As indicated in the team’s announcement, Lamb recorded his 7,015th receiving yard on that play, which makes him the first player in Cowboys history to reach that mark in his first six years with the team.

A few moments later, Lamb caught another pass from Prescott. This time, it was a 15-yard reception that resulted in Dallas’ first touchdown of the game. The Cowboys tied the game at 7-7 after Brandon Aubrey scored the extra point.

It has been an action-packed affair thus far. The Chiefs were able to score again late in the first quarter via a Travis Kelce touchdown. As of writing, Kansas City is up 14-7 after the opening period.
