Dallas Cowboys Make QB Move After 6 Games

The Dallas Cowboys have not lived up to expectations through the first six weeks of the 2026 NFL season. After a 23-13 loss to the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field in Week 6, the Cowboys find themselves with a 2-4 record. Hoping to avoid a third straight loss, the Cowboys will head to Lincoln Financial Field to face the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football.

The Cowboys’ offense was expected to be an elite and explosive group heading into the season. Despite an established group of high-level personnel led by quarterback Dak Prescott, the once-feared unit has been largely disappointing over the last two weeks.

Dallas managed to score only 13 points last week against Green Bay, and one of their two touchdowns came with less than a minute remaining in the game. The week prior was a similar story, with the team’s second touchdown coming late in the fourth quarter.

While the Cowboys have bigger offensive issues to address ahead of their matchup in Philadelphia, the team also had a hole to fill in its quarterback room after Joe Milton was signed off of Dallas’ practice squad to the Eagles’ active roster.

According to Todd Archer of ESPN, the Cowboys are signing quarterback Kyle Trask to their practice squad.

Trask entered the NFL as a second-round pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021 after two seasons as the starter at Florida. Trask spent his time in Tampa Bay backing up quarterbacks such as Tom Brady and Baker Mayfield, but was never able to win a starting job.

Since being released by the Buccaneers in August 2025, Trask has bounced around, spending time with both the Carolina Panthers and the Atlanta Falcons. Trask has appeared in just seven games across his NFL career, attempting only 11 total passes.

Dallas is now giving the 28-year-old another opportunity, and he will have the opportunity to learn behind yet another talented veteran quarterback in Dak Prescott.
