Dolphins Injury Updates Ahead of Chiefs Matchup
The Miami Dolphins are in for one tough home opener on Sunday. They’ll host none other than the 2-0 Kansas City Chiefs, who boast one of the NFL’s most high-powered offenses this season — averaging 32.0 points per game.
Ahead of Sunday’s game, Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley provided injury updates on key players — edge Chop Robinson, running back Jaylen Wright, and rookie wide receiver Caleb Douglas. Here’s the latest status on those key guys.
Starting with Douglas, who recently set a franchise record for most receiving yards in a rookie debut, he went down with an ankle injury against the San Francisco 49ers on Sept. 20. It happened in the fourth quarter, and he appeared to roll his ankle during a blocking play. His status for Week 3 is up in the air, as Hafley said Monday that it’s “too early to tell” how severe the injury is.
Moving on to Wright, he left the second quarter of the 49ers game with a neck/shoulder injury and did not return. He finished with one carry for a loss of one yard before exiting the game, and the Dolphins have his status listed as day-to-day.
Finally, Robinson is dealing with a head injury that led to him sitting out of the 49ers contest. He’s still in concussion protocol, and this is his third reported concussion in just over two seasons at the highest level. Miami drafted Robinson, a 23-year-old, out of Penn State back in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft
Practice reports this week should clarify these players’ availability for the Chiefs matchup. However, if at least one of them doesn’t suit up for the Dolphins, these injuries will test Miami’s depth and the coaching staff’s ability to adapt.
