Eagles fans might be left rolling their eyes at the Cowboys after trade deadline

Never mind the constant criticism of the Philadelphia Eagles, whether or not they're winning. People will continue to ignore the fact that these are, indeed, the reigning Super Bowl champions and, until the final bell sounds, the critics truly don't have a leg to stand on.

But they will certainly keep talking. You can bet on it.

Now, looking across the NFC East, there's another franchise that deserves every single bit of criticism they've received since, well, decades ago? The Dallas Cowboys are still, for now, a laughing stock. If you're into mediocrity, then boy are they the team for you!

Speaking of being a laughing stock, there is one potential trade the Cowboys could very well make before the deadline which was alluded to recently. In a speculative piece around trade block candidates, we saw the Cowboys mentioned as a potential landing spot for Cincinnati Bengals star pass rusher Trey Hendrickson.

Eagles fans would be left laughing at Jerry Jones if the Cowboys pulled off this trade

Now, at first glance, this is a monumental move. Hendrickson is the league's reigning sack leader. But, over the course of this past offseason, Hendrickson and the Bengals were one of the hottest stories around the league.

Cincinnati simply didn't want to pay him like the top sack artist he was and is, and Hendrickson is still on the final year of his contract, set to become a free agent next spring. So, it would be a total Jerry Jones move to now, finally, attempt to go "all in" on a Super Bowl by acquiring the Bengals star.

How hilarious would it be for the Cowboys to, first of all, think one player like Hendrickson is going to make all the difference? Didn't Jones already tell the world that one player didn't make enough difference when he traded Micah Parsons? By the way, thank you, again, Jerry!

Hendrickson wouldn't put the Cowboys into "contender" status. And, they'd be taking yet another one-year flier on a player (hello, George Pickens).

Eagles fans could only laugh and shake their heads at a franchise as inept as the Cowboys if they were to entertain a deal like this and actually make it happen.

Go ahead, Jerry. Go on and give up even more draft capital for a one-year rental on a player who you probably don't plan to sign to a long-term deal, anyway, because that's not exactly your M.O.

Eagles fans would simply sit back and watch as the Cowboys hover around .500 again, missing the playoffs or coming oh, so close to a Wild Card berth. Meanwhile, Philly is a legitimate contender, in case the doubters forgot.
