Eagles' hidden gem is on the brink of breaking out in a big way

With all the tremendous accolades he earned while suiting up in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Philadelphia Eagles guard Trevor Keegan has still been a bit of a forgotten warrior of sorts. Looking at his list of luminous accomplishments - National Champion, Captain and integral member of the best offensive line in College Football, three-time All-Big Ten Selection, the list goes on.

As a Wolverine, he was often overlooked by the likes of Zak Zinter, who starred and strived his way to becoming an All-American, manning the other guard spot just across the way from the steady, oftentimes menacing (yet jovial) Keegan at that other guard spot.

So he's been lost in the shuffle a bit, even while at Michigan. Keegan didn't earn All-American honors, and he likes to chop it up with teammates and fans alike, but the fifth-round pick of the Eagles (pick No. 172) in the 2024 NFL Draft has a very serious football pedigree.

It is one that is firmly built on pride, character, accolades (plenty), and at the end of the day, loyalty to team before self.

Now with the Eagles, it's time to stop sleeping on Trevor Keegan

Once in Philly, he quickly made friends last season while flashing here and there in very limited duty. In action versus the Giants, he also flashed that gregarious demeanor while hammering defensive linemen who stared from across the way and attempted to sack his QB.

He can deliver a solid punch and still he moves his feet pretty solidly for a big man. This guy has size and power. If he can continue to put in the toil, the sweat equity and elbow grease under the sage guidance of line coach Jeff Stoutland, he can put it all together. Keegan has to move those feet a bit better, but with hard work, he can close the gap and solidify other elements of his game as well.

Throw in the likes of Lane Johnson and the rest of those tireless dogs in the Philly trenches, and Keegan has every chance to develop and put his Wolverine prints on a bigger role before too long.

Keegan is also as loyal to the cause as he is versatile; you know he's just chomping at the bit when he watches all the glory and elite craftsmanship on display by the starting five up front.

Now, with Mekhi Bechton signing with the Chargers, the loud and proud Wolverine mauler has been training with diligence to make his impact resonate within the trenches, where Eagles soar and opponents now complain about a play that simply cannot be thwarted.

Open lanes for Saquon Barkley abound and added time for Jalen Hurts to connect serious dots left and right (he makes plays regardless of time); Either way, weapons galore spell doomsday for many a foe. Keegan just wants to join this party.

This is a guy who just showed up and smashed defensive linemen and linebackers when met on the second level. He started all 15 games for a Wolverines crew that devastated all oncomers to the tune of a National Title.

He fits this operation like a glove: versatile (can swing around the line a bit), coachable, and vocal (captain of the best line in football and national champ? Yes, leadership matters more than ever, folks. Philly has a bunch of leaders, including (perhaps especially) up front. Keegan has won over such a passionate fan base with his food choices and his song lists, which are the stuff of legends.

But I'm here to simply remind folks not to sleep on a Wolverine that is gung-ho on making noise, for all the right reasons. He's a selfless leader out there, simply working on his craft. And before long, one way or the other, Keegan should be ready to shine.
