Eagles' injury update creeping towards Jalen Hurts' top target not playing

This week has been a gut punch with injuries for the Philadelphia Eagles on offense, and the update coming out of practice is not looking any better.

ESPN Eagles reporter Tim McManus reported that he did not see tight end Dallas Goedert at practice, while also seeing running back Will Shipley "was off to the side." Goedert's latest injury just came to light on Wednesday as he is dealing with a knee sprain, but his status for Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs is up in the air.

Shipley got hurt in the Eagles' 24-20 win over the Dallas Cowboys last week as he is dealing with a rib injury. He is expected to be out between one and two months, which led the Eagles to trade for running back Tank Bigsby from the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Things aren't looking great for Goedert to play against the Chiefs

Losing Goedert would be a massive blow to a passing game that can't afford to lose anyone. He was one of the leading receivers in the Cowboys as he led the team in receptions and targets (seven) and was second in yards (44).

The problem with Goedert that continues to be the case is his durability. He has missed 15 games over the last three years in Philly for multiple different injuries.

Should Goedert be out, the next man in line is Grant Calcaterra, who started 13 games last year and had a career-year with 24 receptions for 298 yards and one touchdown. While Calcaterra has been a solid receiver for the Eagles, his pass blocking has been something left to be desired.

Goedert can't afford to miss any time as it could lead to the Eagles making an easy decision in the offseason to move on from the tight end.
