The Philadelphia Eagles have a ton of young talent on defense that is mostly unproven, but defensive lineman Moro Ojomo has become a popular player for fans to track.
During day three of training camp, Ojomo had his best practice, making a strong impression on the coaches and media. NBC Sports Philadelphia Eagles reporter Dave Zangaro shared his observations from the team's training camp, and Ojomo made some plays that continue to establish him as a prime candidate for a breakout season.
"Keep an eye on third-year defensive tackle Moro Ojomo. He had a “sack” in team drills today and has been consistently generating pressure early in camp as he goes against Tyler Steen. For a guy who has played 25 regular season games without a single sack (he did have one against the Rams in the playoffs), there’s a lot of excitement about his future and his ability to rush the passer. Ojomo should have an expanded role in 2025."
Everyone talks about Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis as the former first round picks are expected to have big roles in 2025. The Eagles need one more lineman to step up and become a difference maker in at least run stopping. Ojomo looks to be playing the part.
The former seventh-round pick in 2023 has slowly worked his way into the rotation. Ojomo has only started one of 25 games in his two-year career, as he has made 23 tackles and five quarterback hits.
It appears that when the 2025 season begins, Ojomo will be one of the three starters on the defensive line. He got more playing time last year as he showed his pass-rushing ability.
During the offseason, many media outlets named Ojomo as a breakout candidate for the Eagles in 2025. Pro Football Focus ranked him as the 32nd-best interior defensive lineman in the NFL, as he had a 70.4 overall grade and an 82.4 pass rush grade in 2024.
Ojomo's potential is a big reason Milton Williams was not brought back by the Eagles. The team has already seen what Ojomo can do and he appears to be ready for an elevated role.
