With Kaleb McGary and Storm Norton out for the foreseeable future, the Falcons are down to their third string right tackle as Week 1 approaches. They had no choice but to make a trade, and Michael Jerrell may only be the beginning.
Jerrell was taken in the sixth-round of last year’s NFL Draft and started in three games last season for the Seahawks. At the very least, he adds a little more stability at right tackle for now, but we could see a bigger move in the near future, depending on how things shake out around the league as 53-man rosters are finalized.
However, even if the Falcons make another trade, it’s not likely to be something that significantly moves the needle. Teams are not looking to move starting offensive lineman — particularly tackles — this close to the start of the season. It will be a team effort to protect Michael Penix‘s blindside until Storm Norton and Kaleb McGary are healthy.
