Former Las Vegas Raiders Starter Dies at 38

The Las Vegas Raiders are mourning the loss of former offensive lineman Jordan Devey, who passed away at the age of 38.

The news was shared by his wife, Linsey Hodgkiss Devey, in an emotional Facebook post that would have marked the couple’s 15th wedding anniversary.

Devey signed with the Raiders (while they were still in Oakland) as an unrestricted free agent in March 2019 on a one-year deal and quickly earned a role along the offensive line.

He appeared in four games that season and started all of them, filling in during the early weeks of the year before a season-ending injury landed him on injured reserve in early October.

The Raiders later re-signed him in April 2020 during the franchise’s transition to Las Vegas, though his time in silver and black remained tied primarily to that 2019 campaign.

A product of Memphis after beginning his college career as a walk-on, Devey carved out an eight-year NFL career the hard way.

Undrafted in 2013, he spent time with the Baltimore Ravens, New England Patriots (where he earned a Super Bowl XLIX ring), San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs, the Raiders, and Buffalo Bills. Across those stops he appeared in 44 regular-season games with 21 starts.

The Raiders organization released a statement honoring him.

“Today, Raider Nation mourns the passing of former Raiders offensive lineman Jordan Devey. Jordan was a proud member of the Silver and Black and will be remembered not only for his contributions on the field, but for the relationships he built and the lives he touched throughout his football journey,” the statement read.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Jordan’s wife, children, family, friends, former teammates, coaches, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.”

After football, Devey settled in Eagle, Idaho, where he coached young athletes, volunteered with his children’s teams, and mentored players at Eagle High School.

Those who knew him described a devoted husband and father of four whose impact extended well beyond the field.
