George McCaskey: Bears ‘Moving Forward’ in Hammond

Chicago Bears owner George McCaskey reiterated the team’s focus on a new stadium in Hammond, Indiana, during Saturday’s preseason broadcast against the Cleveland Browns.

Appearing on the local Bears telecast in the third quarter, McCaskey was asked for clarity on the franchise’s stadium plans.

“The clarity is we’re moving forward in Hammond,” McCaskey said.

He expanded on the current process, noting the team is currently evaluating two potential sites in the Northwest Indiana city.

“We’ve identified one viable site – the Lost Marsh Golf Course – we’re looking at another site to see if it is viable – the Wolf Lake Terminal – and we’re doing our due diligence on those sites,” McCaskey said. “It’s time-consuming, it’s deliberate. It takes a while, and we just need people to be patient.”
