Giants Legend Shocks City With Subway Post

Former New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning may have permanently ended the debate about Big Blue belonging to New York or New Jersey.

Manning spent nearly two decades in New York as the quarterback of the Giants , setting just about every passing record imaginable and winning two Super Bowls, both over Boston-bound quarterback Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.

However, for all his time representing New York City, he played, practiced, and lived in New Jersey.

On Wednesday, it became abundantly clear that some New Yorkers will never accept him as one of their own. He took to social media to post a picture of himself in a subway station, leaving a caption that immediately threatened to go viral.

“First time riding the subway!” Manning commented.

Manning spent 16 seasons in New York, and as the face of the Giants undoubtedly spent plenty of time in the Big Apple. Between endorsements, interviews, and simply having fun, Manning had to have been to the city countless times. And yet, he managed to evade the public transportation system that holds the city together.

That might be his most impressive feat yet.

It isn’t clear what Manning was doing in New York on Wednesday, or why he chose the tracks over the tires. But fans were quick to joke, not only about the absurdity of his comment but also the “dad energy” of his flick and rampant speculation regarding his whereabouts.

Perhaps the last time he took public transportation in the city was when he hoisted the Lombardi Trophy through the Canyon of Heroes.

“Once a Giant, Always a Giant, Only a Giant,” his Twitter biography says. Only now can he add “New Yorker” to the list.
