This weekend, the focus of every Green Bay Packers fan shifted to the NFL Draft, where the team made several exciting selections.
Outside of the festivities however, the Packers made another important move, finalizing a three-year fifty million dollar contract extension with wide receiver Jayden Reed.
Following their free agent signings of Benjamin St. Juste, Javon Hargrave, and Skyy Moore, the Green Bay Packers were left with a sizable amount of cap space remaining.
When no bigger moves followed, it became clear that the front office likely planned to use that money to ink extensions for several members of the existing roster.
The first of those extensions was offensive lineman Sean Rhyan, who signed a three-year thirty-three million dollar deal in early March, and now, there’s Jayden Reed.
Of the players that were likely to be extended, it may be surprising to see Reed before the likes of Tucker Kraft and Christian Watson, but following the draft, GM Brian Gutekunst seemed confident that those extensions were still coming down the pipeline.
Gutekunst said he was excited to get WR Jayden Reed's contract extension done today and he "absolutely" wants to sign Christian Watson "and a few others over the next few months."

At the beginning of the 2025 season, I wrote about the importance of Reed’s performance in year three, and how it might affect his future in Green Bay.
With the drafting of Matthew Golden, the wide receiver room was getting crowded, and the former Michigan State product needed to reclaim his spot in the pecking order after a “down” year.
Prior to breaking his collarbone in week two against the Commanders, Reed looked like he could be on the way to returning to his rookie year form.
Unfortunately, the injury cost Reed large portion of his season, but upon his return, he proved himself as a steady contributor, logging five straight games of forty-plus receiving yards.
Following the free agent exit of Romeo Doubs and the trade of Dontayvion Wicks, things became a bit clearer, but there were still questions.
For a week or so leading up to the draft, there was serious consideration that the Green Bay Packers could take a wide receiver early, but ultimately, that didn’t come to fruition.
Reed signed his extension before the front office made any picks, and based on the fact that they used a single selection on offense, the lowest of any team in the league, it seems like the Packers’ future on offense is set in stone.
Watson, Golden, Reed, and Kraft.
For better or worse.
In my opinion, that sounds pretty damn good.
