A high school football player was captured on video trash-talking Cam Newton at a 7-on-7 tournament in South Carolina. The video, of course, went viral, and many called out the young player for being disrespectful.
On Monday, that player, identified as Jseth Owens of Perkiomen Valley High School in Pennsylvania, apologized to Newton for the incident on social media.

In the video, Owens can be heard telling Newton, "You're a free agent," over and over again while also telling him he's "about to be poor." The quarterback then asked Owens where his parents were.
Newton shared an extended version of the video on his Instagram, explaining why he wanted to speak with Owens' father.
Many NFL players came to the support of the former MVP, including Darius Slay, Leonard Fournette, Cameron Jordan, Eric Ebron and Justin Simmons.
Newton will become a free agent when the new league year opens in March. It's unclear if he'll return to the Patriots, but even if he doesn't, he has no plans to retire in 2021.
