After a somewhat inconspicuous debut on Sunday that saw him spend the majority of his time on the offensive side of the ball, the Jaguars and head coach Liam Coen are reportedly set to unveil a new gameplan for Travis Hunter in Week 2.
Hunter played 42 offensive snaps in Jacksonville's season-opening win over Carolina to just six on defense — logging six receptions on eight targets for 33 yards with a tackle.
But speaking to the media on Wednesday, the Jags' HC said that Travis' offense/defense splits will "likely" change against the Bengals as they face the dangerous wide receiver duo of Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.
“It’ll be a likely uptick,” Coen told reporters earlier today. “It’s more so, going into Week 1, it was, OK, we know that it’s not going to be a ton on defense. The goal is to increase and continue to increase [defensive playing time]. It just so happens that we’re playing Cincinnati with two good wideouts this week.”
Coen also talked about the challenge Cincinnati's weapons pose to opposing defenses — giving kudos to the Bengals on what they've been able to accomplish over the past few years since reaching Super Bowl LVI.
“I mean, there’s some good tandems out there for sure, but the way they’ve done it at a high-level now for a number of years, the chemistry, they go to a Super Bowl, they’ve won, they’ve known how to win,” Coen explained. “Zac [Taylor has] done a great job there with getting those guys where they are now."
"They’ve played in a difficult division. They’ve played a ton of difficult games, tight games over the years. They’ve pulled some of those out in some critical moments. Play Kansas City tough every year, so this is a team that knows how to win," he continued. "They’re well-coached and they have some talent.”

Neither Chase, nor Higgins, were able to get much going in Cincinnati's Week 1 victory — being held to a combined five catches for 59 yards. So all three stars on the perimeter will be looking to breakout with this next opportunity to hit the field.
For what it's worth, Hunter seems like a more natural fit at corner — and he'll get the chance to test himself against a couple of the league's best at Paycor Stadium at 1 PM ET on CBS.
