Jalen Ramsey trade rumors erupt after insider’s wild Commanders mention

Adam Peters hasn't lacked confidence in the trade market since becoming the Washington Commanders' general manager. One leading NFL insider believes he could still have one more ace up his sleeve before the 2025 campaign rolls around.

Peters' aggressive mindset and ruthless roster-building were a revelation almost from the moment he got into the building. The front-office leader seized every opportunity, whether that was finding value with outgoings or adding productive veterans with Pro Bowl or better production. The window to contend is open for Washington after decades in the proverbial abyss, and he reacted accordingly.

It significantly depleted Washington's draft resources in 2025 and 2026, but Peters had no option other than to make this pivot. Maximizing quarterback Jayden Daniels's rookie contract is crucial. Anything less would be doing a disservice to the signal-caller and the Commanders' fan base.

NFL insider links Commanders to daring trade for Dolphins CB Jalen Ramsey

And there could be more to come if a recent report is any indication.

Jeremy Fowler from ESPN named the Commanders among the potential suitors for All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey. The senior insider stated that the Miami Dolphins have been in trade discussions with teams, but no deal is imminent. Washington was linked, along with the Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Rams. Whether it amounts to anything more remains to be seen.

The Commanders don't have much to part with if they identify Ramsey as a player of interest. There's also some significant financial ramifications to consider, so nothing will gather pace until after June 1.

Ramsey and the Dolphins mutually agreed his future lay elsewhere just before the draft. He's still performing at a high level, but Miami is making a business decision with so much money remaining on his deal.

There's no doubt that the Commanders would benefit greatly from Ramsey's presence. Even so, they already have one highly paid cornerback on the books in Marshon Lattimore, who is looking to bounce back next season after being unable to shake off a hamstring complication effectively in 2024.

The Commanders might have inquired about Ramsey, but the move seems highly unlikely as things stand. They have a decent five-man corps in the cornerback room, so if Peters is going to make another blockbuster trade, it should be at another position group.
