Jaren Hall set up for success vs. Packers thanks to Green Bay DC Joe Barry

Rookie quarterback Jaren Hall has a chance to become a legend for the Minnesota Vikings, and he could not be set up to be in a better position against the Green Bay Packers.

To be fair, Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell is taking a massive chance going with the rookie from BYU over veteran Nick Mullens, who has started the past two games.

Losers of four of their last five and barely holding onto playoff hope, what do the Vikings have to lose, though? It's not like Mullens was lighting the world on fire, going 0-2 in his two starts with four touchdowns and six interceptions.

This matchup is also the perfect opportunity for a young quarterback like Hall, who is bursting with potential.

Packers defensive coordinator Joe Barry is on the hottest of hot seats in Green Bay, and that's because he has been an opposing quarterback's best friend over the past few weeks.

In a loss to the New York Giants, his defense allowed backup Tommy DeVito to complete 17 of 21 passes for 158 yards and one touchdown with 71 rushing yards to boot. The very next weekend, in a loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Barry made Baker Mayfield look like a future Hall of Famer.

Mayfield completed 22 of 28 passes for 381 yards and four touchdowns against the Packers, putting up a passer rating of 158.3.

And sure, the Packers beat the Carolina Panthers this past weekend, but Barry's defense still made rookie quarterback Bryce Young look like a superstar. He completed 23 of 36 passes for 312 yards and two touchdowns. Green Bay's defense gave up three touchdown drives in the second half and almost lost the game outright if it wasn't for the clock running out on Carolina's final possession.

The point is, Hall may have thrown only 10 passes in his young career so far, but he's absolutely a threat to go off against the Packers on Sunday night as long as Barry is coaching Green Bay's defense.
