Jaxson Dart leaves game with injury after terrifying collision

Jaxson Dart left the field early in Monday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams due to injury.

The New York Giants quarterback got sandwiched between two defenders as he tried to keep his team’s opening drive alive early in the first quarter at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif. Dart, facing 3rd-and-8, held on until the very last moment to launch a pass downfield, leaving him vulnerable to oncoming pass rushers.

Rams linebacker Byron Young tackled Dart from the QB’s right side, slamming him right into Rams defender Josaiah Stewart. The contact bent Dart’s left leg in an awkward angle.

The Giants listed Dart as questionable to return due to a knee injury. He went 3/5 for 20 yards in the opening drive before being replaced by veteran backup Jameis Winston.

The good news for Giants fans was that Dart was able to walk off the field under his own power. But questions abound on whether Dart will need to miss time should he be unable to return during Monday’s game.

Things only got worse for the Giants as wide receiver Malik Nabers also left the game with a shoulder injury moments later.
