The New York Jets were quiet during Tuesday's NFL trade deadline, making no moves. It wasn't for a lack of trying, however.

Per Brian Costello of the New York Post, Jets general manager Joe Douglas "inquired" about Las Vegas Raiders All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers stud wideout Mike Evans, but those teams "were not willing to trade them."
"Douglas also looked into offensive line help, but could not find anything that worked," Costello wrote.
"'There need to be buyers, there need to be sellers. We made a lot of inquiries and had a lot of discussions about a lot of different positions but ultimately didn't get any other deals done. That's where we are,'" the GM said.
Costello reported that New York made "repeated inquiries" regarding Adams and Evans but were told "neither was available."
It's only the midway point of the 2023 season and the Bucs and Raiders aren't completely out of the playoff picture at 3-4 and 3-5 respectively, but both teams are on a skid.
Tampa Bay has dropped three in a row and Las Vegas has lost back-to-back games, while also recently firing head coach Josh McDaniels, GM David Ziegler and offensive coordinator Mick Lombardi. The Raiders are also reportedly "leaning toward" benching starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo in Week 9 in favor of rookie Aidan O'Connell.
Gang Green, meanwhile, is riding a three-game winning streak and would just barely miss out on a surprise playoff berth if the season ended today.
Even though Las Vegas wasn't willing to part with Adams, it was up for trading slot receiver Hunter Renfrow, according to Costello's report. Per Costello, the Jets "were more interested in adding an outside receiver" and were turned off by the 2021 Pro Bowler's $11 million salary this season.
