The Houston Texans released All-Pro defensive end J.J. Watt on Friday at his request. Fans are now thanking the 31-year-old for his time in Houston in a very special way.
Watt announced via Twitter that his nonprofit organization, the J.J. Watt Foundation, has been flooded with donations in increments of $99 from fans in Houston and around the country.
Waking up this morning to a flood of $99 donations to @WattFoundation from Houston and cities all over the country (presumably attempts at bribes, judging by the messages attached with some )

Kids all over the country will benefit from your generosity.
I’m truly thankful.

It’s not surprising that fans are donating to the J.J. Watt Foundation. While Watt was a force on the field for the Texans, he also did plenty of charitable work during his time in the city. When Hurricane Harvey devastated the city of Houston, Watt raised more than $40 million, with donations coming in from across the globe.
Watt had one year remaining on his contract at $17.5 million. He's undeniably the best player in Texans history, winning Defensive Player of the Year three times and earning five Pro Bowl selections. He is also a five-time All-Pro and was named Walter Payton Man of the Year in 2017.
In 128 regular-season games, Watt has 101 sacks, 409 solo tackles, 25 forced fumbles, 16 fumble recoveries, 172 tackles for a loss and 281 quarterback hits.
