John Harbaugh shows complete belief in Jameis Winston

Despite his ugly Week 2 performance, Jameis Winston has the full trust of New York Giants head coach John Harbaugh.

On Tuesday, Harbaugh faced reporters and expressed his belief in Winston, who is currently viewed as New York’s starting quarterback after Jaxson Dart’s injury.

“Absolute faith in all our players. That’s why all the guys are here. Jameis is one of our guys who is obviously here for a reason,” Harbaugh said when asked about the team’s faith in the former Heisman Trophy winner, via SNY Giants.

“He’s a very good football player,” Harbaugh said. “That would go for any position, any player on our team.”

Dart went down with an injury in the first quarter of the Giants’ 28-6 loss to the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif., on Monday, and was initially diagnosed with a sprained MCL. However, an MRI on Tuesday showed that the former Ole Miss Rebels star suffered a more serious injury, one that could potentially end his 2026 season.

Winston replaced Dart in the Rams game, but he had a horrendous showing under center, going 11/27 for 111 passing yards, zero touchdowns and an interception.  

The Giants could trade for a quarterback, but for now, Winston is the team’s QB1.

Perhaps a full week of practice with the starters will have Winston looking much better when the Giants face a seemingly beatable Tennessee Titans at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., in Week 3.
