Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce wins Athlete of the Year at People’s Choice Awards

Coco Gauff, Giannia Antetokounmpo, Lebron James, Lionel Messi, Sabrina Ionescu, Simone Biles, and Stephen Curry were also nominated. 

But after winning Super Bowl LVIII, Kelce was the People's Choice. 

As for Swift, she took home four awards on Sunday night, winning the female artist, pop artist, concert tour and social celebrity categories. 

And while he always speaks about how much Swift deserves the recognition, Kelce didn't feel the same way about himself. 

“What did I do to get Athlete of the Year? I did ‘SNL,’” Kelce said on his podcast in January. “How am I on this [list]?”

This has been an incredible season for Kelce, who started a whirlwind romance with Swift along with going on to win the Super Bowl. 

And during the offseason, he is now set to travel the world with the pop star as she continues her tour in Europe. 

So all of this could have potentially contributed to the win. But regardless, Kelce is an incredible athlete and the Chiefs couldn't have won without him.
