The Rams failed to complete the fourth-quarter comeback in an 18-16 loss to the division rival Cardinals Sunday at SoFi Stadium.
The offense stalled most of the day before Matthew Stafford reverted to the MVP version late in the game to begin the rally, connecting with Puka Nacua for a 42-yard gain and then throwing a touchdown pass to tight end Colby Parkinson for a 16-15 lead with 47 seconds left.
But the Rams defense couldn’t hold Arizona on its final drive, and Chad Ryland kicked a 43-yard field goal as time expired, his sixth of the game, to drop the Rams to 2-4, last in the NFC West.
At two games under .500, here is where the Rams stand in the latest power rankings heading into the Week 7 matchup against the Raiders at Las Vegas.
ESPN: No. 14 (Down six spots)
CBS Sports: No. 18 (Down nine spots)

ESPN’s Sarah Barshop: “Coach Sean McVay tried to describe why the Rams are beating themselves with penalties, turnovers and “so many unforced errors” at critical times on offense. But ultimately, he said he’s “not really sure” why the Rams can’t get out of their own way. “A lot of different guys are taking their turn,” McVay said. “… We’ve had some really critical errors at really unfortunate times. That’s what our narrative has been for this year. We can’t keep saying, ‘Oh, we haven’t done that before.’ Well, this year we are doing it. We have to be able to fix it, and it’s my job to do that.”
CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco: “The next four games will decide their season, starting this week at the Raiders. They need to go at least 3-1 in this part of the schedule or they can kiss the division goodbye.”
NFL.com’s Nick Shook: “The offseason darling and preseason Super Bowl favorite is now 2-4. The Rams will be without Davante Adams for more than a month (if not longer), Myles Garrett still isn’t back and they’re down two defensive tackles after Sunday’s loss to Arizona. They also looked evenly matched against a team I ranked 31st last week. Los Angeles lacks an offensive identity, can’t take care of details and is already in need of a third kicker in 2026. This is a mess that Sean McVay needs to start to clean up quickly.”
Fox Sports’ Ralph Vacchiano: “I have now officially lost all faith in the Dream Team. I was willing to write their early struggles off to jet lag and a mostly brutal stretch of opponents in the first five weeks. But their hideous 18-16 loss to the Cardinals this past Sunday broke me. It might have broken the Rams, too. It definitely broke WR Davante Adams, who is now out 6-10 weeks with a ruptured hamstring. Sean McVay looks as lost and frustrated as I’ve ever seen him. And I don’t blame him. The Rams are ranked third in total offense and total defense, but they don’t seem to make big plays on either side of the ball. They look old or tired or maybe both. Mostly, they look very overrated.”
