Mark Davis has quickly ingratiated himself into the Las Vegas sports scene and community.
Inheriting the Raiders back in 2011 after the passing of his father Al, Davis moved the Raiders from Oakland to Las Vegas in 2020. He would then purchase the Las Vegas Aces in 2021, overseeing the team as they won back-to-back WNBA championships in 2022 and 2023. An engaged owner, Davis has been quick to celebrate the accomplishments of his teams and has been willing to help them in any way he can.
It was unsurprising for him to join in on the celebration of Aces superstar A’ja Wilson’s league-record fourth MVP award, but the way he did it certainly was.
Wilson received two surprises when she was presented the MVP trophy by WNBA commissioner Cathy Englebert on Friday.
The first was when Wilson’s boyfriend and Miami Heat forward Bam Adebayo joined the ceremony and handed her the award, which lead to a heartfelt show of emotion from the Aces superstar.

The second was much more light-hearted when Davis, along with Wilson’s father Roscoe Wilson Jr. and many of the Aces staff, donned bright pink wigs in her honor.

The pink hair was a nod to Wilson’s appearance during her media day session back in May, as well as the color scheme of her A’One Nike basketball shoe, which sold out in five minutes upon the release of its first batch in the same month.
It was a fitting tribute to Wilson, who entered rarified air by winning her fourth MVP award before the age of 30. Not only has no other player in the WNBA reached that milestone, but only three NBA players (Bill Russell, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, LeBron James) have accomplished the impressive feat.
Wilson’s greatness deserves to be recognized, and Davis did his part to ensure it was a memorable experience.
