Maxx Crosby is hoping the 2025 season is finally the year the Las Vegas Raiders get over the hump and get back into playoff contention.

The AFC is stacked with potential Super Bowl contenders, especially the teams in the AFC West, as the Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers all project to be postseason threats. Las Vegas might look like the worst team in their own division on paper, but players like Crosby can help close the gap with their play on the field.

Las Vegas made some meaningful additions this offseason to bolster its roster, including trading for Geno Smith from the Seattle Seahawks. However, the most impactful newcomer might be head coach Pete Carroll, who brings credibility and a winning mentality to the Raiders franchise.

So far, Crosby has loved what he’s seen from Carroll and described how he’s used his new coach to improve as a player via NFL.com:

“I think it just works both ways. Coach Carroll has coached some of the best players to ever play in this league especially at my position, so for me it’s just about absorbing as much information and taking things I’ve learned in the past, taking new things and applying them to my game and continuing to build.”

Carroll was the architect behind some of the best defenses in the NFL during his time with the Seattle Seahawks, and the hope is he can replicate that success in Las Vegas with a player like Crosby to build around. The two seem like a perfect match as Carroll is a respected coach and leader with a knack for communicating with players, while Crosby is one of the best overall defensive players in the league and is eager to win.

The Raiders might have a tough hill to climb to truly compete next season. Still, Carroll and Crosby will be instrumental in changing the organization’s culture and hopefully achieving success on the field. There’s a lot of time between now and Week 1, but all signs point to a better showing for the Silver and Black.

Maxx Crosby calls Jamal Adams a dynamic player, believes he’ll help Raiders

Having Pete Carroll around means he’ll have a say in personnel, and it’s no surprise that the Raiders went out and signed Jamal Adams. Adams has dealt with injuries over the years, but Maxx Crosby believes he’s still a dynamic player who’ll help the team.
