The Minnesota Vikings now sit at 4-8 this season, and the vibes surrounding the team are brutal.
It's not that the Vikings have been this bad all season, but it's gotten progressively worse throughout the year, including losing the last four games, with the last two in embarrassing fashion. The defense has been solid throughout the year, and head coach Kevin O'Connell's offense is where the issues lie.
We can talk about pretty much anything with the offense having been off this season, and it all compiled this past weekend against the Seattle Seahawks.
We knew that the Vikings were going to be starting rookie undrafted free agent quarterback Max Brosmer on Sunday afternoon, and there was a lot of excitement about what he brought to the team, including ESPN's Jeremy Fowler saying that he was the most prepared quarterback so far this season.
“They feel like, at the very least, he’s going to be probably more mentally prepared than they’ve had this season with the struggles [at quarterback].”
Well, that preparation didn't translate to Sunday afternoon, as they were abysmal. Brosmer threw four interceptions, and they were shutout for the first time in 18 years. It also was the worst singular defensive performance in DVOA (Defensive-adjusted Value Over Average) in team history.
Did the Vikings play their worst offensive game ever by DVOA yesterday?

HOLY HELL YES.
No. 30 worst offensive DVOA game ever, even after adjusting for Seahawks D which is now No. 1 again.
30% worse than any other game. #Skol #Vikings pic.twitter.com/GN4Vl4rDhU
The idea of DVOA is to compare teams across eras compared to the average performance. It helps encapsulate how good a team is versus what their record is. Sometimes, a 13-4 team like the 2022 Vikings aren't quite as good as their. This is a tough look for O'Connell, who is seen as, not just an offensive guru, but a quarterback one as well.
This is just another example of the brutal nature of this season for the Vikings, and they need to figure things out over the next five games, or multiple individuals could end up losing their jobs.
