NFL 'MNF' player prop: Bodied by an old nemesis

After advancing to the Super Bowl last season, the Eagles’ pursuit of a second straight NFC title has hit a snag recently. They’ve suffered back-to-back losses of 20-plus points to the 49ers and Cowboys, two of their primary competitors for the conference crown this year. Against a 6-7 Seahawks squad that has likewise fallen to those teams over a four-game losing streak, Philadelphia is turning to a new defensive play caller in former Lions coach Matt Patricia. But we don’t think he’ll scheme up a way to contain the subject of our top prop:

The bet: Over 63½ receiving yards for Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf (FanDuel)

Making his playoff debut in January 2020, Metcalf exceeded the other game totals of his rookie year by catching seven passes for 160 yards. In November of the following season, he recorded 10 receptions and set a still-standing career high with 177 yards.

The opponent in each game? The Eagles.

Granted, Russell Wilson was the quarterback then and there’s uncertainty surrounding the position now. A groin injury could cause Geno Smith to miss a second game, which would give Drew Lock another start. But regardless of who throws the ball, Metcalf is a physical specimen who possesses the power to break tackles and the speed to gain yardage after the catch.

One of the few wideouts with a comparable level of physicality is the 49ers’ Deebo Samuel, and the Eagles had no answer for him two weeks ago. He racked up 138 yards from scrimmage (122 receiving) and scored three touchdowns. That game also featured top cover corner Darius Slay, who will miss time following knee surgery.

There may be some showers in Seattle tonight, but the forecast looks OK for DK.
