NFL Week 18 Betting Recap: Regular-season lessons will help you win playoff bets

The NFL regular season is over. Among the lessons we learned were: the Buccaneers stunk against the spread while the Giants were awesome, and all year long underdogs and unders were almost a guarantee week after week.

Underdogs hit 56% of the time, and primetime underdogs hit nearly 60%. Meanwhile unders also hit at a 56% clip, with divisional unders hitting at a 59% rate.

Giants finish as best team against the spread

Even though the Giants didn't play their starters against the Eagles on Sunday, New York (+14) covered the spread, finishing with the best ATS record at 13-4. The Giants went 10-2 as underdogs against the spread, and have covered the spread in four straight games.

Tampa Bay fails to cover, finishes as worst team in NFL against the spread

Tampa Bay played its starters for some of Sunday's game against the Falcons, but it wasn't enough to beat Atlanta, or even cover the spread. The Buccaneers finished the season a league-worst 4-12-1 against the spread, and failed to cover the spread in six of the team's final seven games.

Vikings finish as league's best against the over, while three teams tie for league's best against the under

Not only did the Minnesota Vikings go 13-4 under first-year head coach Kevin O'Connell, the Vikings also finished as the league's best team against the over at 11-6. Minnesota covered the over in its final seven games, and eight of its last nine games. Meanwhile, Baltimore, Tennessee and the New York Jets finished as the NFL's best against the under at 12-5.

6-leg touchdown parlay wins bettor $87K

One bettor won over $87,000 after hitting on a six-leg touchdown parlay on Sunday. The bettor took Stefon Diggs, Joe Mixon, Adam Thielen, Courtland Sutton, Elijah Mitchell and Kenny Golladay to each score a touchdown on Sunday, and all six did.

No touchdown scored bet wins bettor $2,000

A $40.00 bet for no touchdown to be scored between the Jets and Dolphins won a bettor over $2,000 on Sunday. The Jets beat the Dolphins, 11-6, on Sunday, and neither team scored a touchdown.

Multiple futures bets win bettors serious money

Philadelphia clinched the NFC East and the top seed in the NFC with Sunday's win over the Giants, but the Eagles win also won a bettor over a 100 grand. This bettor hit on an eight-leg Division winner parlay, with Philly being the final leg of the parlay.

Another bettor won over $72K on a multi-leg futures parlay. The parlay included Patrick Mahomes to lead the league in passing yards, Justin Jefferson to lead the NFL in receiving yards, and for the Minnesota Gophers to win eight games in the regular season. The Gophers won nine games, but Minnesota's bowl game victory didn't count, as the bet included only regular-season games.
