The Philadelphia Eagles may be spiraling a bit after two consecutive losses, including an ugly 34-17 beating from the hands of the New York Giants in Week 6 action.
Whether it's warranted or not, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni continues to face tough questions as the Eagles' offense has abandoned the run game over the past two weeks, which may be a standard variable in their two losses. Sirianni spoke with the media after the game to discuss the Eagles' offensive performance and his opinion on being "predictable".
"Yeah, obviously anytime you know, I think there were some good moments in the run game today, got ourselves behind the sticks a little bit in the second half. Some of the runs there, so we'll look at everything right there. We know we have the guys up front to be able to do that...obviously, we got to do a good job of putting them in positions to succeed, and then you gotta go execute, so we'll look at everything. Running a bunch of different types of schemes but, we'll look at everything, see what we're doing well, and treat this like a bye week here this weekend."
Sirianni's address didn't really quell the claims that it was a predictable offense. Several "analysts" on social media have made claims of this, echoing these claims as well. Former NFL players like Emmanuel Acho broke down the film, stating that the Eagles only run out of a 3x1 formation or pistol.
If media pundits like Emmanuel Acho are quick to figure this out, then it's clear that NFL defensive coordinators are also tracking the Eagles' tendencies. The Eagles haven't escaped the criticism either from inside their building.
"You can game plan all you want," Lane Johnson said via The Athletic's Zach Berman. "But when you get in the game, a lot of it is making adjustments. ...We're not efficient in anything."
Johnson also came out after the game to state that the play calling was predictable, and the team was not making in-game adjustments. Like Sirianni said, the Eagles have over a week to "figure it out" as the team will be heading up to Minnesota to face former franchise quarterback Carson Wentz, who is currently 2-1 as the Vikings starter.
