First-year New York Giants head coach John Harbaugh doesn't seem to be in any rush to bring Odell Beckham Jr. back to what was the wide receiver's first NFL home from the 2014 draft through the 2018 season.
While speaking with Brandon London of the New York Post during Giants pass-rusher Brian Burns' charity softball game over the weekend, Beckham made it clear that he'd like to reunite with New York and Harbaugh.
"It’s a place I never wanted to leave," Beckham said about the Giants, as shared by Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. "And it’s just a special place in my heart just to see all these Big Blue jerseys. Just hoping for the best."
Harbaugh reportedly "loves" Beckham, who played under the head coach when the two were with the Baltimore Ravens during the 2023 season. That said, Beckham will turn 34 years old this coming fall, and he has a worrisome injury history. Additionally, he hasn't played since he recorded nine catches for 55 yards in nine appearances with the Miami Dolphins during the 2024 season. In short, there are reasons to believe he can no longer offer much for an NFL offense as a legitimate weapon.
"I guess we gonna find out soon," Beckham said about whether or not he can still go at the highest level.

The Giants reportedly could explore signing Beckham to a team-friendly deal if wide receiver Malik Nabers takes "longer than expected" to recover from needing a second surgery for a "clean up" related to the torn ACL and torn meniscus he suffered on Sept. 28, 2025. Meanwhile, Beckham "looked quite good" while completing a workout with the Giants earlier this offseason.
"I think you just rely on the things you always rely on, which is my faith," Beckham said about where things stand regarding conversations he's had with the Giants. "And, you know, God has a place of special purpose and journey for me, and just being able to spend that time away, just made me realize some things. You know, I left some things unfinished, so hopefully we’ll see what he’s got working out."
The Giants can sign Beckham at any time. The fact that they haven't yet done so may show that he will have to wait until later in the summer to learn whether or not he'll be part of the team when preseason games get underway in August.
