Packers CB Jaire Alexander says WR Jayden Reed is 'better' than 13-year vet

The Packers surprised many teams last season, making a push to the playoffs and defeating the Dallas Cowboys in the wild-card round as one of the youngest teams in the league.

Green Bay's emergence was thanks to quarterback Jordan Love and his young arsenal of weapons. Wide receivers Jayden Reed, Romeo Doubs, Dontayvion Wicks and Christian Watson have all showcased their upside early in their careers.

However, two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Jaire Alexander believes Reed could have the best career out of all of them and maybe even better than one of the Packers' all-time great receivers.

"I mean, he has full potential. He reminds me of a young Randall Cobb. But he's, I think, you know — (whispering) he's better," Alexander said via Kevin Patra of NFL.com. "He's hungry, man. When you got a young guy coming in who's hungry for the ball, they're gonna make their plays. And you see it."

Reed certainly impressed as a rookie, leading Green Bay with 64 catches for 793 yards and eight touchdowns. If he turns out to be anything like Cobb, he will be more than worth his second-round selection a year ago.

Cobb, a 13-year veteran, played 10 years with the Packers and finished with the fifth-most receptions (532), 11th-most receiving yards (6,316) and 10th-most touchdown catches (47) in franchise history.

The 33-year-old made a name for himself in the slot and now Reed hopes to do the same after spending 75.7% of his snaps in the slot last season.

Of course, Reed has much to prove if he hopes to have a similar or better career than Cobb, but it's safe to expect him to take his game to another level in his second year in the NFL.

Last season was also Love's first full season as the starting quarterback, so their connection should only be stronger in 2024. Green Bay is a team on the rise and Reed is a big reason why.
