It is just a matter of days before the Green Bay Packers finally set foot on the field to open their 2025 NFL campaign against the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field.

The Packers are scheduled to face their NFC North division rivals on Sept. 7, which is also expected to be the NFL debut date for rookie wide receiver Matthew Golden.

Selected 23rd overall in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, Golden appears to be in line to have a big role in Green Bay’s Jordan Love-led passing attack.

But before he makes his regular-season debut in the NFL, Golden decided to make a change.

The former Texas Longhorns star originally went with the No. 81 before changing his mind and turning to No. 22. He eventually ended up with No. 0, thus becoming the first player in the history of the Packers to don that number.

“Packers announce Matthew Golden will wear No. 0,” Matt Schneidman of The Athletic shared in a post on social media platform X on Sunday.

The Packers also shared a special post to announce it, dubbing Golden as “Agent 0.”
