The 2022 NFL season is eight days away. The Green Bay Packers have a new wide receiver room in Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb, Amari Rodgers, and Christian Watson. Also new rookie additions in Romeo Doubs, and Samori Toure. Yesterday the 4-time MVP Aaron Rodgers sent a message of praise on one of the Packers veteran wide receivers.

One of the Packers wide receivers that will be catching passes from Aaron Rodgers is the now eight-year veteran Sammy Watkins. Watkins has played with the Buffalo Bills (2014-16), Los Angeles Rams (2017), Kansas City Chiefs (2018-20), and Baltimore Ravens in (2021) before coming to Green Bay.

In his career Sammy Watkins has 348 catches for 5,059 yards and 34 touchdowns. According to the 4-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers, the 8-year veteran has been a “different player”.

Aaron Rodgers has been sending praise to Sammy Watkins since the Packers first joint practice with the New Orleans Saints, stating that it was Watkins “best practice at camp” on August 16th. Since then, the Packers 4-time NFL MVP has also said that Sammy Watkins is ‘a gamer’.

On Wednesday, Rodgers told the media that he sees a “different player”. “I’ll tell you what: Ever since the Saints practice, the first one, Sammy has been a different player,” Rodgers told reporters on August 31. “He’s been super reliable. Every practice he’s made a bunch of plays. Today, made a bunch of plays again.”

Sammy Watkins has contributed on every team that he has been on in the past. While he has not had many big games with lots of yardage or touchdowns, he adds some experience that will be vital to the Packers passing game. His only touchdown came against the Pittsburgh Steelers after sitting on the sideline due to injuries last season in Baltimore.

Coming from Aaron Rodgers, that is some high praise. It is a good thing, and hopefully that gives the veteran wide receiver some confidence going into his first season with the Packers. Needless to say, it is time for Watkins to be a big-time playmaker and make some catches as one of the veterans for Green Bay
