Patrick Mahomes Development Emerges After Two Chiefs Games

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs jumped to 2-0 on the 2026 NFL season after taking down Daniel Jones and the Indianapolis Colts 33-30 in Week 2’s edition of “Sunday Night Football.” Now, the Chiefs will look to remain undefeated as they begin a two-game road trip against Malik Willis and the Miami Dolphins in Week 3.

Mahomes has been solid for someone coming off a torn ACL late in 2025. In the overtime win over the Colts, the former Texas Tech quarterback has completed 32-of-47 passes for 382 yards and three touchdowns. And Mahomes led Kansas City to the game-winning drive, which ended in a Harrison Butker 40-yard field goal as time expired in overtime.

And through two games, Mahomes has completed 47of-74 passes for 566 yards, five touchdowns and an interception, adding 40 yards and another score on the ground.

Mahomes’ performance leading the Chiefs to a perfect 2-0 has earned him a 90.6 grade by Pro Football Reference (PFF). In fact, the 10th-year quarterback is graded as the second-highest quarterback in the NFL through “SNF.”

But it’s Seattle Seahawks quarterback Drew Lock who has the highest PFF grade among NFL quarterbacks with a 92.1. The former Missouri quarterback has replaced the normal starter Sam Darnold, who has been out since the opening drive of the season with a hip injury. And Lock has Seattle at 2-0 as well, completing 35-of-48 passes for 422 yards and four touchdowns.
