Patriots’ Mike Vrabel Announces Will Campbell News on Monday

The New England Patriots moved one step closer to locking up the AFC’s top seed with a gritty 26–20 road win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 12, improving to 10-2 in front of just five games remaining. It was their ninth straight victory, and quarterback Drake Maye led the charge by completing 22 of 35 passes for a career-high 294 yards, with one touchdown and one interception that was returned for a score.

While the offense didn’t light up the scoreboard, Maye’s poise and yardage total helped the Patriots control a game that had more than a few twists and turns.

However, the win was dampened by serious injuries. Early in the contest, rookie guard Jared Wilson exited with an ankle injury and did not return. Later in the third quarter, rookie left tackle Will Campbell suffered a knee injury and was carted off the field, failing to return for the remainder of the game.

Both injuries raise immediate concerns for New England’s offensive line, a cornerstone of their resurgence this season.

Campbell’s injury happened late in the third quarter when he appeared to land awkwardly while blocking on a run by TreVeyon Henderson; after initial evaluation on the field he was taken to the locker room in a cart with a towel draped over his head.

On Monday, head coach Mike Vrabel offered a stark update: “We won't know much. Yesterday was not a great day for us with injuries,” he said. “There will be some players that went out of that game yesterday that won't be available Monday night. Hopefully we get some of those guys back. We have an extra day. I won't be able to tell you much.”

Vrabel added, “I wouldn’t imagine that Will [Campbell] is going to play in the game. I don’t think that will be something that will happen. That injury is going to probably be more than a week or two,” (via The Greg Hill Show).

This is clearly not the positive update the Patriots hoped for. Campbell, the fourth-overall pick in the 2025 draft, has started every game this season and played 98.3 % of the team’s offensive snaps, providing essential protection for Maye’s blind side.

Losing him for more than a week or two would be a major blow to New England’s momentum and offensive stability as they chase home-field advantage.

Up next for the Patriots is a Week 13 matchup at home on Monday night against the New York Giants. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET, with the game being broadcast on ESPN.
