Quinnen Williams Update Emerges After Saquon Barkley Incident

Quinnen Williams played in his second game for the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday following his mid-season blockbuster trade from the New York Jets earlier this month. While the All-Pro defensive lineman was not as dominant on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles compared to his incredible debut in Week 11, Williams still played an integral role in helping lead Dallas to a hard-fought 24-21 overtime win against Jalen Hurts and the defending champions.

Williams, however, was involved in an incident in Sunday’s win. He took a hard hit from Eagles star Saquon Barkley, which led to a rib issue for the Cowboys DL. An update on Williams’ injury emerged on Monday ahead of Dallas’ highly anticipated matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.

It’s a short week for both the Cowboys and the Chiefs, who carry a lot of momentum heading into Thursday’s showdown. Kansas City is coming off a big win as well, taking down the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, 23-20, in a thrilling overtime win.

This is exactly why the Cowboys will need Williams to be at his best against the Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes-led offense. The good news for Dallas is that it doesn’t seem like the rib issue will be a concern for Williams moving forward. The Cowboys submitted their injury report from Monday’s practice, which did not include Williams.

After Sunday’s win over the Eagles, Williams admitted that “Saquon did get me” and that his ribs were “kinda banged up.” Williams had to exit the game momentarily after taking the hit, but the three-time Pro Bowler seemed optimistic about his chances to suit up against the Chiefs on Thanksgiving.

The fact that Williams was not on the injury report for Monday’s practice supports his optimism. At this point, barring any unforeseen setbacks, the 27-year-old should be back at the heart of Dallas' secondary when they take on the Chiefs on Thursday.

It is worth noting, however, that wide receiver George Pickens, who turned in an incredible performance against Philly, was listed on the injury report. Pickens is dealing with a knee and a calf issue and was not able to take part in practice. Tyler Guyon was also a DNP, and it appears that he will be sitting out the Chiefs game.

The Cowboys and the Chiefs will battle at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, for Thanksgiving. Kickoff for the much-awaited matchup is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. ET.
