Rams Announce 11 Captains For 2026 Season

Rams Announce 11 Captains For 2026 Season

The Los Angeles Rams are gearing up for one of the most anticipated seasons in franchise history. Their season has ended in the playoffs against the eventual champions in back-to-back years, and their offseason moves show they have no interest in having that happen again. They traded for star cornerback Trent McDuffie, superstar Myles Garrett and saw the return of Aaron Donald from retirement.

All of this is in the hopes of lifting the Lombardi trophy in February of 2027. But first, games have to be played. And for those games, the Rams have picked the players that will be their physical and emotional leaders with a brand new slate of captains:

The Rams have named 11 captains for the 2026 season, which is far more than the typical five or six chosen by NFL teams. Teams usually name somewhere in the range of three offensive captains and three defensive captains, but the Rams instead have chosen to select one player to represent each position group on the team.

Representing the quarterbacks is none other than reigning NFL MVP, Matthew Stafford. Kyren Williams, fresh off his third-straight 1,000-yard rushing season, leads the way for the running backs. Veteran star Davante Adams is the captain for the wide receivers and Tyler Higbee for the tight ends. Coleman Shelton rounds out the offense as the offensive line captain.

Defense has even more star power. Garrett is the choice for edge rushers, naturally, as one of the best defensive players of all time and the Rams’ premier offseason acquisition. McDuffie and Quentin Lake are the captains from the secondary, while breakout star Nate Landman holds it down for the linebackers. In a bit of a surprise, Kobie Turner — not Donald — represents the interior defensive linemen, although the team likely voted before the future Hall of Famer made the decision to return.

Finally, representing special teams is long snapper Joe Cardona, as the Rams use their 11 captain slots to shout out every part of the team they hope leads them to their second Super Bowl win of the decade.

Rams’ Matthew Stafford ranks No. 4 on NFL Top 100

The NFL Top 100 is the league’s annual ranking of the best players for the season to come. Stafford — the reigning MVP — has been named the fourth-best player in the world going into 2026.

He jumped to No. 4 all the way from 59 after the best season of his career, despite now being 38 years old.
