Rams Bracing for NFL Punishment After Giants Incident

The Los Angeles Rams got their season back on track following their disappointing 27-7 loss to their division rivals, the San Francisco 49ers, in Week 1. The Rams scored their first win of the new NFL season on Monday night, taking down the New York Giants at SoFi Stadium, 28-6.

Reigning NFL MVP Matthew Stafford led the charge for L.A., completing 22-of-31 passes for 327 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. Davante Adams also went off in this one, logging eight catches for 195 yards and two touchdowns.

The Rams also welcomed Aaron Donald back, who played in his first game since returning from retirement. The three-time Defensive Player of the Year logged three tackles, including one tackle for loss.

The Rams, however, are bracing for NFL punishment. Safety Tanner Ingle will likely receive a fine after being flagged for a personal foul during the game. An unnecessary roughness penalty was called on Ingle after he made late contact with Giants running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. near the sideline at the end of a 26-yard kickoff return.

It resulted in an automatic 15-yard penalty against the Rams.

The NFL will now review the incident and decide whether Ingle’s actions will warrant a fine. According to the broadcast, the penalty was called for use of the helmet. For context, the NFL’s 2026 fines and appeals schedule indicates that an Impermissible Use of the Helmet violation warrants a $23,882 fine for a first offense and $47,762 for a second.

Ingle has not received any fines this season. He will now await the NFL’s announcement of the Week 2 fines and penalties on Saturday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the Rams will look to improve to 2-1 when they face the Denver Broncos in Week 3. L.A. will be on the road on Sunday, with kickoff from Empower Field at Mile High scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET.
