Rams React to Davante Adams News on Thursday

Davante Adams of the Los Angeles Rams is preparing for his 13th season of professional football as one of the oldest wide receivers in the league. 35-year-old Adam Thielen stands alone as the oldest, with Los Angeles Chargers' Keenan Allen and Baltimore Ravens ' DeAndre Hopkins joining Adams as 33-year-olds.

The former California Golden Bears standout had a tremendous first full year of playing professional football in his home state of California. The 6-foot-1 wide receiver led the entire NFL with 31 targets in the red zone, including 23 targets inside the 10-yard line and 16 inside the 5-yard line. The three-time first-team All-Pro parlayed those numbers into a league-leading 14 touchdown receptions.

Coming off another great year, finishing with 789 yards on 60 receptions for 13.1 yards per catch, it appears the elder statesman wide receiver is still respected around the league. The NFL has an annual tradition of releasing its Top 100 Players from the prior season ahead of the next season. The list is voted on by current players, and the former No. 53 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft was revealed as next on the list.

On Thursday, at 11 p.m. ET sharp, the NFL went to social media website X to post that Adams came in at No. 53 for the Top 100 Players of 2026. This is the eighth time the six-time Pro Bowler has been selected for the list in his career. The Palo Alto High School graduate was notably snubbed from the list last season.

The list is typically rolled out slowly over the summer. For the Top 100 Players of 2026, the NFL initially revealed Nos. 100-91 on June 22. Two players have been revealed daily Monday through Friday on the social media website X, with one announced at 10 a.m. ET and another at 11 a.m. ET. The pace will continue until the top 10 players are reached, at which point the final players will be unveiled daily from Monday, Aug. 24, through Friday, Sept. 4, on NFL Network.

Los Angeles will open the 2026 NFL regular season against the San Francisco 49ers in Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Thursday, Sept. 10, at 8:35 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on Netflix.
