NFL training camp has been in full swing since the end of July for the Los Angeles Rams, but two-time Pro Bowl quarterback Matthew Stafford has been noticeably absent.
The quarterback who led the franchise to a Super Bowl title in 2021 has been dealing with an aggravated disk in his back, and the team has made it clear that they haven't wanted to take any chances with him not at 100%.
However, as of Friday, there has been a positive development in Stafford's recovery, as coach Sean McVay confirmed that Stafford will get in the mix this weekend.
"Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, who has not practiced during training camp because of an aggravated disk in his back, will work out Saturday morning, coach Sean McVay said," via ESPN.
"McVay also told reporters that he has hopes that Stafford's body will respond "better," and that surgery for the 37-year-old has not been something that has crossed their mind.
"I haven't gone down that road yet in terms of those types of conversations," McVay said. "There's been a lot of conversations about what's the best method of how we want to approach it. That hasn't been something that comes up."
If Stafford were to miss some time in the regular season, the Rams have one of the best backups in the NFL in former San Francisco 49ers starter, Jimmy Garoppolo.
