Rams' sack woes to continue vs. Cowboys

Cash that +320 SGP last night! Let's rub our eyes clean of that disastrous game, as the NFL board is looking good this Sunday.

NFL ATS Pick

Dallas Cowboys +5 @ Los Angeles Rams — This spread makes absolutely no sense to us. Have you watched the Rams play this season? They cannot protect Matthew Stafford in the slightest, as the Los Angeles quarterback has been sacked 16 times — second-most in the NFL.

In comes a Cowboys defense that has racked up 15 sacks of their own, second-most in the league. Dallas' defensive success has started because of the pressure they generate up front, and it's allowing the back seven to stifle offenses this year. The Cowboys are allowing only 15.5 points per game this year (third-fewest) and just 4.6 yards per play, the fourth-stingiest.

Stafford has not looked good. He's thrown six interceptions in four games, often force-feeding Cooper Kupp. The Cowboys are 3-1 ATS this year, while the Rams are 1-3.

Take the points for visiting Dallas, and consider betting them to win outright.

NFL Over/Under Pick

Over 40.5 points: New York Giants vs. Green Bay Packers — Both the Giants and Packers are 1-3 to the over this season, but we see a turn coming for points in the London game this Sunday. Green Bay was just exposed by Bailey Zappe to the tune of 24 points, while the Giants' defensive success on paper is far more credited to the weak teams they've seen on their schedule.

New England was able to run the ball effectively against the Packers last Sunday, and that's really all New York does. Saquon Barkley is averaging 21 carries per game this year, and he's looked dominant with the ball in his hands. With the Packers allowing 5.0 yards per rush, the Giants should be able to move the ball.

Then there's Aaron Rodgers and this offense, which is starting to find a groove through the air. New York's secondary has had issues against a soft schedule of QBs, and Rodgers is clearly the best passer they'll see yet. With chemistry growing between Rodgers and his receivers Allen Lazard and Romeo Doubs, the Packers should be able to put on a show early and move the ball with regularity.

One of the lowest totals of the week, we see value in betting the over. Take over 40.5.

Weekend of sports ...

MLB playoffs start today — We have four games on the diamond today as four Wild Card Series bring us into the weekend. The Mets are the heaviest favorite of the day with Max Scherzer on the mound and are -175 to advance past the Padres. Sportsbooks are opening up plenty of series-long futures worth a stab if you'll be watching the action, including most home runs and most hits. We're sprinkling on Paul Goldschmidt to lead the Wild Card Series in hits at +3000.

College Football Week 6 — We once again have a loaded Saturday on the gridiron, with quality college football games throughout the day. A few that catch our eye? Undefeated TCU visiting unbeaten Kansas. No. 8 Tennessee vs. No. 25 LSU and No. 11 Utah vs. No. 18 UCLA headlining the top-25 battles. We may look foolish come Saturday, but we're putting Georgia on upset alert. The No. 2 Bulldogs are hosting the 3-2 Auburn Tigers, and there's something about Georgia that hasn't looked right the past two weeks; they've beaten Kent State and Missouri by a combined 21 points. Auburn has not looked good, but anything can happen in the SEC. We're putting a small wager on Auburn winning at +1800. We're nothing if not willing to take a shot on a fall Saturday.

NHL regular-season puck drops this afternoon — As part of a European promotional tour, the Nashville Predators and San Jose Sharks get the NHL regular season started today in Prague. Our favorite prop starts with Nashville defensemen Roman Josi's shots on goal. You can currently bet his over at just 2.5 (-170 CZR), and it's a bet we recommend grabbing. In three games against the Sharks last season, Josi finished with five, seven, and 10 SOG.
