Rams survive Seahawks, 21-19

The Rams intercepted four passes and kept Seattle out of the end zone for nearly the entire game, holding the Seahawks scoreless offensively until the final 2:23. Their offense, meanwhile, found just enough rhythm to score three touchdowns against one of the league’s toughest defenses.

And yet this clash between two surging NFC West contenders still came down to Jason Myers’ 61-yard field-goal attempt as time expired. When the kick fell short and wide right, Los Angeles secured a messy but potentially season-defining 21–19 victory.

“We’re never going to apologize for being able to find ways to win,” coach Sean McVay said.

Kamren Kinchens headlined a dominant defensive performance with two interceptions, while Matthew Stafford threw two touchdown passes as the Rams (8–2) extended their winning streak to five games. Davante Adams added his 10th touchdown catch of the season, and Kyren Williams powered the ground game with 91 yards and a score. The Rams thrived defensively by forcing Sam Darnold into his first four-interception outing since 2019.

Still, the Seahawks (7–3) nearly stole it late. Trailing by nine with six minutes left, Seattle put together an 84-yard drive capped by Kenneth Walker III’s touchdown dive. A quick defensive stop gave the Seahawks a chance, but Ethan Evans’ 50-yard punt checked dead at the 1-yard line with 1:41 remaining. Darnold rebounded from his disastrous day to push Seattle to the Los Angeles 43 before Myers, who had made four earlier field goals, came up just short on a career-long-tying attempt. “We’re about 3 yards short from putting ourselves in a great position to go win,” coach Mike Macdonald said.

Darnold finished with 279 passing yards but lamented his turnovers, crediting Seattle’s defense for keeping the game competitive. Kinchens, who matched his two-interception performance from last season’s overtime thriller in Seattle, was joined by Cobie Durant and Darious Williams in picking off Darnold. “Everybody wants to test us, maybe because of our rush,” Kinchens said. “But they don’t know how good the secondary is.”

Cooper Kupp, facing the Rams for the first time after eight seasons in Los Angeles, made three fourth-quarter grabs and received loud “Coooop” chants from fans of both teams. Stafford threw for a season-low 130 yards as the Rams mustered just 249 total yards, far below Seattle’s 414, but Los Angeles hasn’t trailed in a game since Week 6. “We found a way to win without playing perfect football against a really good team,” Stafford said. “Our defense played outstanding.”

Adams scored on his 1,000th career reception, and former Seahawk Colby Parkinson hauled in a 6-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter. Despite the Rams failing to sustain drives, they didn’t post a series longer than 25 yards after the first quarter. Jaxon Smith-Njigba shone for Seattle with nine catches for 105 yards, becoming the first player in the Super Bowl era to record at least 75 receiving yards in each of his team’s first ten games and tying Steve Largent’s franchise record with his seventh 100-yard game of the season.

Kinchens’ first interception set up Williams’ touchdown run, and although Seattle dominated time of possession in the second quarter, two extended drives ended in field goals. Durant’s interception early in the third was canceled out by a Puka Nacua fumble, but Kinchens’ second pick later in the quarter finally sparked the offense, leading to Parkinson’s score.

Injury concerns mounted for both teams. Seattle lost linebacker Tyrice Knight to a concussion after a big hit on kickoff coverage; Rams returner Xavier Smith was also ruled out with a concussion on the same play. Los Angeles safety Quentin Lake exited with an elbow injury shortly after halftime, and tight end Tyler Higbee hurt an ankle in the second half.

Next, the Seahawks visit the Titans on Nov. 23, while the Rams host the Buccaneers the same day.
