Head coach Andy Reid said Rice is getting better by the day, but he’s still ramping up from his hamstring injury. He still has a couple of days of work before the Chiefs’ matchup against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday Night Football becomes a dire question.
Rice is the team’s No. 1 receiver and has 13 catches for 190 yards and one touchdown. In his absence, Xavier Worthy stepped up with his best game of the season with seven catches for 73 yards. He has been targeted seven times in three of the last four games and figures to remain a constant option for quarterback Patrick Mahomes when Rice returns.
Rice has had trouble staying on the field. After playing 16 games as a rookie, he played in just four games in 2024, eight games in 2025 and has now missed most of two games in 2026. Rice is in the final year of his rookie contract and will need to stay on the field and productive in order to cash in on a big deal in the offseason.
